Wine Temperatures

Wine Storage
The best temperature for storing wines is 55 - 58 degrees Ferinheight. Wine is generally aged at 55 degrees.

Drinking and Serving Wine
It is often suggested that a good average temperature to drink both red and white wine is approximately 55 degrees.

Finding a good temperature for serving and drinking wines is also a matter of taste. The temperature of a wine should be gauged on the body of a wine, rather than whether it is red or white. A good rule of thumb is, the richer and more full bodied the wine, the warmer it should be served.

Often restaurants serve white wines from a refrigerator (about 40 degrees) which can make it difficult to destinguish subtle flavors. The full flavor of the wine is lost until the wine warms up a bit.

The following temperatures are only a guide. If you enjoy your favorite wines warmer or colder, it is ultimately personal preference.
